• Edited web materials and conducted legislative research to create a series of over 100 print brochures for newcomers to Canada
• Prepared press releases, media kits, key messages, and correspondence (e.g. letters to the editor of major newspapers) for various organizations
• Produced Board, employee and community newsletters (print and web-based) for many organizations: developed layout, researched and created content, and managed all aspects of production and distribution
• Produced brochures and policy training materials for organizations: developed original content, guided organizations with the development of logos, coordinated translation of materials into many different languages and managed production

Research and Policy

• Updated regional protocols and policies related to domestic violence and woman abuse by working closely with 30 + community based agencies in Peel region. Used focus groups and subject interviews to engage health care providers, women’s shelters, child welfare agencies, multicultural organizations, school boards and religious groups to implement an effective inter-agency referral system for victims of abuse
• Organized policy consultations with human service agencies across Peel region related to improving the inter-agency domestic abuse referral system
• Developed and used outreach surveys to conduct program evaluations; used evidence-based measures for reporting on domestic abuse policy and program effectiveness
• Conducted an environmental scan of best practices across Canadian cities related to the reporting/referral of domestic abuse
• Researched Canadian statistics and trends related to domestic abuse, including reporting patterns across different ethnic groups
• Analyzed the implications of public accountability measures facing Ontario’s 53 Children’s Aid Societies: conducted a comparative study with Alberta’s child welfare system and recent reforms; conducted detailed subject interviews within Ontario’s child welfare system
• Conducted an on-line literature review for a university on arts and cultural program funding and trends in the Northwest Territories, the Yukon and Nunavut
• Provided research support into the development of a transitional housing program
• Researched regional policies and coordinated community resources to support anti-bullying and diversity awareness sessions for an elementary school
• Designed and administered an outreach survey to gauge public opinion on a new municipal government sponsorship program; compiled findings for senior management

Government Relations

• Assisted organizations with applying for government grants to fund community and province-wide initiatives (for example, Ontario Trillium Foundation grants). Liaised on behalf of agencies with OTF and other funders across Canada throughout the grant application process (including proposal development, writing and submission). Prepared regular progress reports on behalf of agencies.
• Tracked Hansards and Ontario legislative committee proceedings for an Ontario association
• Prepared Minister information packages, government briefings and policy proposals on behalf of organizations
• Prepared speeches and talking notes for executive directors dealing with government officials
• Administered a letter writing campaign to Ontario legislature MPPs on child abuse and neglect prevention
• Prepared letters to politicians and government officials
• Coordinated and organized province-wide advocacy campaigns (e.g. Purple Ribbon Campaign Against Child Abuse and Neglect and Foster Family Week)
